Short answerAll three can call outside services from a workflow. They bill differently: Zapier by tasks, Make by credits, n8n by workflow executions. Check each billing unit against how often your bot would call it.
| Zapier | Make | n8n | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Billing unit | Tasks | Credits | Workflow executions |
| Free option | 100 tasks/month; no webhooks | 1,000 credits/month | Cloud trial of 1,000 executions; self-host community edition |
| AI-tool connection | Zapier MCP | Make-hosted MCP server | MCP server trigger and client; HTTP Request node |
| Paid pricing | From $19.99/month billed annually (750 tasks) | Dollar prices not visible in our check | From EUR 20/month billed annually (2,500 executions) |
Webhooks on Zapier require a paid plan. n8n can be self-hosted; business self-hosting needs a license key. We did not verify Make's or Zapier's self-hosting.
How to use them
Expose the workflow to your assistant through a webhook or MCP, then test every call: Actions migration, MCP server.
