Short answerDefine explicit triggers (angry customer, billing dispute, legal or safety topics, repeated failure), give the bot the exact handoff wording and contact path, and test it with realistic tickets.
Triggers
- The user asks for a person.
- Billing disputes, refunds above a limit, cancellations.
- Safety, legal or privacy topics.
- The bot has failed to help after two attempts.
- Strong frustration.
Wording
When a trigger applies, say: "I want to make sure you get the right help. Please contact [person/team] at [email or link], and mention [what to include]." Then stop trying to solve it yourself.
What to collect first
Ask for non-sensitive details that help your team (order number, topic) before handing off. Do not ask for passwords or card numbers.
Limits to know
A hosted page like GPT Migrator's answers from instructions and files and does not create tickets or connect to live chat; handoff is a link or contact instruction. For ticketing integrations you need a platform with actions: see Actions migration. Related use case: customer support GPTs.
