Short answerTo host a GPT yourself you need its instructions, its files, a model provider API key and a chat page that sends questions with the right context. You can build that yourself or use a host. GPT Migrator hosts it for $47 per month with your own API key, and it does not run Actions.
What a hosted GPT needs
- Instructions: your system prompt.
- Knowledge: your files, split so the right passages are found for each question.
- A model: usually via an API from a provider such as OpenAI or Anthropic, billed by that provider.
- A chat page: a web page that sends questions to the model along with your instructions and relevant file passages.
- Safeguards: rate limits and protection for your API key.
Do it yourself or use a host
Building it yourself gives control and supports Actions, but you maintain it. A host gives you a working page faster. Questions to ask any host: where are my files stored, how is my API key protected, what happens if I cancel, and can I export my data?
How GPT Migrator hosting works
- Sign up and upload a zip of your GPT's instructions and files, or paste them in.
- Pick a page name: your bot lives at gptmigrator.com/your-bot-name.
- Add your OpenAI or Anthropic API key. Keys are stored encrypted.
Each bot has a free preview of a few replies from a small free model. After that it needs your key. The plan is $47 per month and you can cancel any time. Your model provider bills you separately for usage.
Limits, plainly: hosted bots answer from your instructions and files. They do not run GPT Actions, browsing or image generation, and their answers will differ from your original GPT. Test before sharing. See testing.
Need your GPT running again without ChatGPT?
GPT Migrator can host your instructions and files as a standalone chat page for $47 per month. You bring your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key. It answers from your instructions and files and does not run GPT Actions.
