When are Custom GPTs being retired?

Will my Custom GPT stop working?

According to OpenAI, existing GPTs remain usable until the retirement date, subject to their access and workspace permissions. After that they stop running.

What replaces Custom GPTs?

OpenAI encourages users to consider plugins as replacements and says it plans to help migrate GPTs to plugins. Other routes are in alternatives.

Can I export my Custom GPT?

You can copy your instructions and keep your original knowledge files. The free Chrome extension can package them as a zip. OpenAI's migration documentation does not describe an official export.

What happens to the original GPT after I migrate?

OpenAI says the original remains usable until retirement but becomes read-only, so finish essential edits first.

Do GPT Actions transfer to plugins?

No. OpenAI states custom actions do not transfer and must be rebuilt using a supported app or a custom MCP server. See Actions migration.
