Short answerChatbase has no official Custom GPT import guide that we could find, so migration is a manual rebuild: paste your instructions, upload files (PDF, TXT, DOC, DOCX up to 20 MB each) or add website text, and rebuild any Actions as Chatbase custom actions.
How your GPT's parts map
| Your GPT | In Chatbase |
|---|---|
| Instructions | Build, then Instructions (global instructions across channels) |
| Knowledge files | Add Files (.pdf, .txt, .doc, .docx; 20 MB each; text must be selectable), Website, Text, Q&A, Notion |
| Actions | Custom Actions: HTTP method and HTTPS URL, inputs the agent collects, JSON only, response max 20 KB |
| Sharing | Channels: website widget, iframe, WhatsApp, Messenger, Slack, email, phone and more |
Steps
- Export your instructions and your files.
- Create an agent and paste the instructions.
- Add your files, then click Retrain after any change to sources.
- Rebuild Actions as custom actions: Actions migration.
- Test before connecting a channel.
Limits to know
- Scanned PDFs with no text layer cannot be used.
- Self-serve plans list 1 agent and a 40 MB training cap; see pricing.
- The iframe embed does not support advanced features.
Compare with another platform: Chatbase vs Botpress. Disclosure: we have a competing hosted option; see alternatives.
